What can privacy mean in an IoT context?
Is it the same privacy when we discuss changes on Facebook or refer to drones? In this talk, Rob Heyman will define key concepts of privacy; awareness and control. These are important if we want to invest in a future with more IoT applications, but as we will see during the presentation, the nature of IoT is completely different from how we talk about privacy now.
Rob Heyman has studied 6 years at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and got a masters degree in both philosophy and communication sciences in 2010. He obtained a PhD in communication sciences in 2016. This research was part of the EMSOC project (User Empowerment in a Social Media Culture). It critically investigated the evolution of Facebook as an actor-network.Now Rob works as a researcher at iMinds-SMIT investigating privacy in social media, online advertising and City of Things. He also teaches at the VUB and ULB.
