Among the plethora of wearable devices that emerged in the past few decades, smart 
computational jewelry (artefacts that are both fashionable jewelry and functioning wearable 
devices) seems to be a relative newcomer. From the first glance, it appears that most of 
jewelry-like devices are self-quantifying silicone bangles. But is it actually so? The research 
from Queen Mary University of London reveals a rich variety of jewelry-like devices, along 
with their specific trends, challenges and potentials. This presentation will discuss key-
findings, emerging directions in communication displays, connectivity and power solutions as 
well as market segments and the growing new consumer base.
