This talk describes BigchainDB. BigchainDB fills a gap in the decentralization ecosystem: a decentralized database, at scale. It can handle more than one million writes per second, store petabytes of data, and has sub-second latency. It has a proper querying system, and rich permissioning. It supports public and private deployments. It is complementary to decentralized processing technologies like Ethereum, and decentralized file systems like IPFS.
